I'm strongly for equality for all, but if such a tiny detail that almost no one thinks of in the way that you do would stop you from learning a superpower which you can then teach to others to rise above the REAL barriers that society has set for them, then I think you're missing the point of how powerful coding is, and the true freedom it gives.

I agree, changing this term is probably a good idea in the long term, but saying that you almost quit because of it?... that only shows you're unable to adapt to adverse circumstances, of which (in the scheme of things) this is an extremely miniscule example of social difficulty.
