This prompted me to do some research about updates to CSS. I wasn’t aware CSS was capable of variable-like ‘custom properties’. However, I love SCSS, and am so used to working with it as a frontend dev that I’m not sure I’ll stop anytime soon. Totally agree with you on BEM naming though, I stopped using that as soon as styled-components for React was released, and now that I use Vue (which essentially has the same thing as styled-components out-of-the-box), scoped-class naming has become infinitely easier and eliminated the need for BEM, or other naming conventions.
